Welcome to Stillwater Girls' Basketball

Annie_large

Where we promote Teamwork, Respect, Community, Trust and Fun!

The Stillwater Girls Traveling Basketball program's primary purpose is to develop highly competitive female basketball players capable of competing for Stillwater High School teams following their 9th grade traveling season.

This does not mean that every athlete that plays in the SGTB program will or must ultimately play for Stillwater High School. However, it does recognize that the majority of Stillwater High School female basketball players develop through the SGTB program. It is in the players' best interest that the SGTB program develops players with the skills needed to survive and thrive if they choose to tryout for Stillwater High School after "graduating" from the SGTB program.

  • Developing competitive SGTB athletes requires development of other basic skills, some of which include:
  • Learning time-management skills that require balancing school, personal, and team demands.
  • Learning that practicing and executing fundamentals properly contribute to both team and individual success.
  • Learning that team success takes a higher priority than an individual's statistics.
  • Learning to perform under physical and mental stress in a competitive athletic environment.
  • Learning to win and lose with equal grace.

Developing competitive SGTB athletes also requires development of volunteer coaches that are dedicated to developing all player team and individual skills to the highest possible level. In addition, our volunteer coaches must be willing to learn, and subsequently teach the Stillwater High School offenses and defenses because doing so is in the long-term best interests of the players and the program.
